The Toledo Symphony Orchestra (TSO) has announced significant adjustments to its 2020-2021 performance season, prioritizing the health and safety of its musicians and audiences. All performances scheduled for January will be accessible to virtual audiences only. Beginning in January 2021 and continuing through June, concerts will be held at the Toledo Museum of Art’s Peristyle Theater and livestreamed via the TSO’s TAPA Streaming platform, available on various devices.

The orchestra plans to accommodate limited in-person audiences as conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic improve. Several performances have been postponed, including Bernadette Peters and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert. The KeyBank Pops Series has been reimagined, featuring Toledo Symphony musicians in new programming due to artist availability, travel restrictions, and safety concerns. Specific virtual-only performances for January have been detailed, with subsequent dates for February through May announced, encompassing a variety of musical themes.

Both President & CEO Zak Vassar and Music Director Alain Trudel acknowledged the challenges of the past year, expressing gratitude for the flexibility and support from musicians, audiences, and staff. They highlighted the TSO’s commitment to maintaining artistic standards while ensuring a safe environment for all involved. Further details on all program modifications and ticket information can be found on the Toledo Symphony’s website.
