Heights Arts is set to present its 15th “Close Encounters” concert series, featuring three streamed performances live from Cleveland’s iconic Bop Stop. The series, which will run in January, February, and April, aims to highlight the work of minority composers and showcase new music alongside traditional favorites. This move to a digital format allows the organization to continue offering musical experiences amid the ongoing pandemic, reaching a wider audience than ever before.
The “Close Encounters” series promises a diverse lineup, including “OMNIPresence with Obligat’OBOE” on January 30th, celebrating composers like Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota. February 28th brings “Florence, George and Amadeus,” spotlighting the often-overlooked talents of Florence Price alongside Mozart. The series concludes on April 25th with “Unfairly Neglected Masters,” focusing on the works of Anton Arensky and Fanny Mendelssohn.
Tickets for the streamed concerts are available for purchase on the Heights Arts website, with varying price points for general admission, Heights Arts members, and students. This initiative underscores Heights Arts’ commitment to connecting the community with diverse artistic contributions, even in challenging times, by providing accessible and inspiring musical programming.
