Heights Arts in Cleveland Heights opened two paired exhibitions in early 2026: “Consider Fires,” a group show examining fire as metaphor and material, and “Spotlight: Josh Chefitz,” a solo exhibition of mixed-media work focused on memory and personal transformation. Both exhibitions ran through March 15, 2026, at the Heights Arts gallery on Mayfield Road.

“Consider Fires” was assembled by curator Gina Washington of Cleveland’s Transformative Arts Team, featuring work by Northeast Ohio artists including McKinley Wiley, a Cleveland Arts Prize fellow; Jeanetta Ho; Falon Walker; Tanya Kaiser; Chester Hopkins-Bey; Aja Joi Grant; Yasmeen Kwan; James Negron; Kolé Robinson Brooks; Ellis Walker; Lolita Wilson; and Leah Wood. Washington described the exhibition as exploring “the balance in what is commonly considered destructive — fire.” Programming included an artist talk on February 19 with Heights Poet Laureate Michelle R. Smith and guest poets presenting original work inspired by the show.

Josh Chefitz, whose layered ink, paint, and mixed-media works explore memory as an evolving narrative, serves as Director of Student Care at Ruffing Montessori School. The two exhibitions offered complementary perspectives on transformation and renewal. Heights Arts, founded in 2000, is a nonprofit organization supporting arts engagement, education, exhibition, and community programming in Cleveland Heights.
