Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati will present the regional premiere of “The House on Watch Hill,” a new musical by Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor, running May 9 through May 31, 2026, at its Midtown Cincinnati home. The production is directed by D. Lynn Meyers and Dee Anne Bryll.
Set in the summer of 1984, the show follows a group of teenagers in a Cincinnati suburb who set out to build a haunted house, only to find their imaginations giving way to more complicated questions about growing up. The story draws on real events from composer Richard Oberacker’s life and incorporates an original score inspired by 1980s pop music. Oberacker and Taylor previously co-created Bandstand, which received a Tony Award nomination. Director Meyers reflected on the production’s appeal: “Do you remember a summer when you thought everything was possible?”
The cast includes Jason Collins, Julianne Ferreira da Silva, Wesley Akio Geary, Adrian Graff, Jordyn Amani Jones, Morgan Lindell, Sara Mackie, Gavin Poronsky, and Tommy Sanders. The creative team includes scenic and lighting designer Brian c. Mehring, music director Steve Goers, choreographer Dee Anne Bryll, and costume designer Cat Schmeal-Swope. Performances run Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $22 for adults; half-price rush tickets are available two hours before curtain.
