The Cleveland Museum of Art announced a juried group exhibition celebrating regional artists, “Lake Effect: Artists from Cleveland Now,” to be presented at the museum’s Transformer Station location in Ohio City’s Hingetown neighborhood from July 9 through November 22, 2026. The exhibition is part of the CMA’s 110th anniversary programming and draws inspiration from the museum’s historic May Show, an annual juried regional exhibition that ran for decades.
The exhibition is open to artists who live or work in Northeast Ohio, including Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit counties. Artists working in all media are eligible—including painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, textile, ceramics, and mixed media—and both individual and collaborative submissions are welcome. Submitted works must have been completed within the past five years. Applicants must be 18 or older.
Submissions will be reviewed by a curatorial jury of CMA curators and museum professionals. Three micro-grants of $1,000 each will be awarded to selected artists. Selection results will be sent to applicants by May 1, 2026. The Transformer Station is located at 1460 West 29th Street in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood and is a satellite exhibition and performance space operated by the Cleveland Museum of Art.
