The Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University opened its spring 2026 gallery season on February 14 with five simultaneous exhibitions featuring newly commissioned and recent works by international artists. The centerpiece is Ximena Garrido-Lecca: Seedings, which runs through May 24, 2026, and marks the Peruvian artist’s first exhibition in Ohio.

Garrido-Lecca’s Wex-commissioned installation invites visitors to take seeds from sacks and vessels in the gallery and deposit them into a grain silo, listening as the seeds move through its interior. The work draws on ancient Andean agricultural traditions including the Three Sisters cultivation system and addresses seed conservation, climate change, and environmental policy. The exhibition was curated by Julieta González, the Wex’s head of visual arts, and Rebecca Lowery, curator of exhibitions.

Alongside Seedings, the spring season presents four additional exhibitions: Passages by British-Guyanese artist Hew Locke; Corinthians by Naeem Mohaiemen; echoes of a wet finger, a film and video work by Vitória Cribb; and A Whole New Thing by Eric N. Mack. Several of these works were also commissioned by the Wexner Center. An opening celebration was held February 13, 2026, featuring a performance by the Kenny Barron Trio and a panel discussion with Garrido-Lecca and Mohaiemen, moderated by curator Rebecca Lowery.
