The Cincinnati Art Museum (CAM) has begun a nearly year-long construction project to revitalize its south-facing ground level. The renovations, which started August 25, 2023, will create two new classrooms equipped to serve students of all ages and abilities, a dedicated research center for photography, prints, and drawings, and a new event space. This project aims to significantly improve CAM’s capacity for educational programs, community engagement, and scholarly research.

The project includes the creation of the Marek Family Commons, featuring classrooms with flexible seating arrangements and a large multi-purpose space. Additionally, the Carl M. Jacobs Center will be established to provide public access to and facilitate scholarship on the museum’s extensive collections of photographs, prints, and drawings. The museum’s main entrance will remain accessible throughout the construction, with affected ground-level programs being relocated to alternative spaces.

Upon completion in fall 2024, the renovated spaces will enhance the visitor experience, expand community outreach, and increase the museum’s organizational capacity, aligning with its strategic plan. This initiative is largely funded by the museum’s successful “A New View” campaign. The Cincinnati Art Museum continues to offer free general admission.
