The Cincinnati region has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s most arts-vibrant large communities, earning a spot in the top 20 for the fourth consecutive year. This distinction comes from the 2024 Arts Vibrancy Index, an annual report by SMU DataArts that analyzes arts supply, demand, and government support across more than 900 U.S. communities. Cincinnati’s consistent presence on this list highlights its significant economic and cultural contributions, with arts generating an estimated $1.6 billion in economic impact for the region over the past four years.

The study identifies Cincinnati as a leader in specific metrics, ranking in the top 1% for earned program revenue, such as ticket sales, and the top 2% for total compensation for arts workers. Alecia Kintner, President and CEO of ArtsWave, emphasized that this recognition underscores the strength of the region’s arts industry and its success in attracting creative talent, contributing to Cincinnati’s growing reputation as a national creative hub. The index also noted that Cincinnati is the only community from Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana to be named among the large communities, alongside other Midwest cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, and Nashville.
