ProMusica Chamber Orchestra announced its 2024-2025 season, the ensemble’s 46th, led by Music Director David Danzmayr and Creative Partner Vadim Gluzman. The season includes premieres of the orchestra’s 70th and 71st commissioned works. The 37-member ensemble performs at the Southern Theatre and The Fives in Columbus.
The season opens September 28-29 with Kurt Weill’s “The Seven Deadly Sins” featuring vocalist Storm Large, paired with Schubert’s Fifth Symphony. Other programs include Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto with pianist Yeol Eum Son (November 9-10), a new cello concerto by Andy Akiho with cellist Jeffrey Zeigler (December 14-15), and Mendelssohn’s “Lobgesang” with Capital University Chapel Choir (January 25-26).
The season closes May 10-11 with the Midwest premiere of Michael Schachter’s “Rhapsody,” co-commissioned with Carnegie Hall’s ProtoStar Group, performed by Columbus native and jazz pianist Aaron Diehl. The program also includes William Grant Still’s “Darker America” and Brahms’ Third Symphony. Subscriptions range from $99 to $324; single tickets ($18-$64) go on sale August 12.
