Tuesday Musical, the Akron concert-presenting organization founded in 1887, announced on January 16 that Austin Ferguson will succeed Cynthia Snider as executive director when Snider retires in June. Ferguson has served as the organization’s director of artistic operations and educational engagement since 2021.

Snider joined Tuesday Musical in 2015 and has led the organization as executive director since 2019. She told the board last fall of her plans to retire, and recommended Ferguson for the role. “It’s the right time for me to step down from this organization that I admire and love,” Snider said. “Tuesday Musical is in a great position of energy and growth.”

Ferguson previously worked for the Virginia Arts Festival as assistant director of the Rhythm Project, an in-school music program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance from The University of Akron and earned a master’s in nonprofit organization management from Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences in December 2025. Board president Claire Purdy called Ferguson “ideal for the position,” citing his education and experience with the organization.
