Cuyahoga Arts & Culture announced on April 14 the appointment of Dr. Shenise Johnson Thomas and the reappointment of Daniel Blakemore to its Board of Trustees. Both will serve through March 31, 2029. Board members are nominated by the Cuyahoga County Executive and confirmed by County Council.
Johnson Thomas is the chief external relations and development officer for the Cleveland Public Library and inaugural president of the Cleveland Public Library Foundation. She previously held leadership positions at United Way of Greater Cleveland and Cuyahoga Community College’s Eastern Campus, bringing more than 20 years of nonprofit experience. “Dr. Johnson Thomas’s deep experience in the public sector will be a valuable contribution” to CAC’s mission, executive director Jill M. Paulsen said.
Blakemore, who has served on the board since 2023 as vice president, is the vice president of philanthropy at the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park. He brings more than 15 years of experience in nonprofits and philanthropy across natural sciences, history, music education, and museums.
