The Cleveland International Film Festival has launched Deep Focus: Where Craft Meets Industry, a new virtual masterclass series aimed at film and television creatives of all skill levels. The series pairs working industry professionals with aspiring content creators for skill-building sessions and conversation.

The inaugural session, “TV Writing: Creating the Episodic Engine,” takes place June 25 at 7 p.m. EST. Award-winning writer and director J.D. Shields will lead the discussion, drawing on his experience with the MGM+ series “Emperor of Ocean Park” and ABC’s “The Company You Keep.” Registration is $25 per session.

The series extends CIFF’s programming beyond its annual festival, which celebrated its 50th edition earlier this year. Deep Focus positions the organization as a year-round resource for Northeast Ohio’s film community, connecting local creatives with professionals working in prestige television and independent film.
