Live Arts Toledo, in partnership with Starlite Theater Group, will host An Evening with Dave Eggers on June 11 at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle. The event marks the national tour launch for the internationally acclaimed author, who will discuss his new novel “Contrapposto,” set for publication June 9.

The program features a moderated conversation with Amanda Uhle, Executive Director and Publisher of McSweeney’s, the literary nonprofit Eggers founded. The two will discuss the origins of the novel, which follows two artists across more than six decades and explores the tension between artistic integrity and commercial success. An audience Q&A and onstage book signing follow the discussion.

Eggers, whose books have sold more than five million copies in the United States, has been a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. “The Peristyle seems an incredibly appropriate backdrop for discussing ‘Contrapposto,'” said Zak Vassar, President and CEO of Live Arts Toledo, referencing the novel’s connections to classical sculpture and the art world.

Standard admission is $25, with a book bundle option at $45 that includes a copy of the novel. Limited VIP tickets at $65 include a signed book and a pre-event meet-and-greet. Tickets are available at liveartstoledo.com.
