ArtsWave, MeetNKY and the Northern Kentucky Port Authority have named Susan Byrnes as the inaugural artist-in-residence at the OneNKY Center Gallery in Covington, Kentucky. The residency builds on a collaboration among the three organizations to expand creative placemaking across Northern Kentucky.
Byrnes is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans painting, sculpture, multimedia installation and radio. The OneNKY Center Gallery, which opened in September 2025 at 209 Greenup Street, was designed from the start as a cultural gateway for visitors to Northern Kentucky, featuring professionally framed photographs of regional public art.
“This residency is a powerful example of how Northern Kentucky continues to invest in its creative future,” said Julie Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of MeetNKY. ArtsWave’s Director of Northern Kentucky Creative Placemaking, Rachael Parker, said the exhibition and residency serve the goal of ensuring the arts are central to how the region designs spaces and builds community connection.
