ArtsWave and its ArtsWave Pride affinity group have announced a call for artists to create a permanent mural reflecting the spirit of Pride in Covington, Kentucky. The commissioned work will be installed on the west-facing exterior of Madison Design’s building at 515 Madison Avenue.

The project marks ArtsWave Pride’s first public art commission. The group, which brings together LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies to support the arts, has previously focused on funding programs and experiences. The mural expands that work into public space.

“Creative placemaking is about shaping places that reflect who we are and where we’re going,” said Rachael Parker, director of Northern Kentucky Creative Placemaking at ArtsWave. The project is part of ArtsWave’s broader effort to advance creative placemaking across Northern Kentucky through projects that activate public spaces and strengthen community identity.
