The Majestic Theatre in downtown Chillicothe, identified as America’s oldest continuously operating theater, is hosting an America 250 Celebration on July 5, 2026, with a screening of the film “1776” as part of the national semiquincentennial. The event joins the theater’s ongoing 2026 season of concerts and tribute performances in the Ross County seat.

Chillicothe’s arts scene centers on several institutions: the Majestic Theatre for live performance, the Pump House Center for the Arts for visual exhibitions (currently experiencing website difficulties), and the annual Tecumseh outdoor drama, one of Ohio’s signature cultural tourism attractions. The Pump House, housed in a former 1883 pumping station, presents rotating visual art exhibitions and community programming.

The city also hosted a Juneteenth celebration in June 2026 connecting art at the Pump House with jazz and blues at the Majestic Theatre and programming at the Lucy Hayes Heritage Center, weaving the arts into broader community commemoration.
