The Greater Columbus Arts Council board approved 316 Funds for Artists grants totaling $371,067 for applications submitted June 9 through July 23, 2025. The grants brought the total awarded to 1,280 artists through the program in 2025 to $1,507,451. Of that total, 388 grants went to first-time applicants.
For 2025, GCAC raised the individual award amount from $500 to $1,200. The program supports individual artists in making new work, expanding skills, and marketing their practice. Alison Barret, GCAC Grants and Community Engagement Vice President, said the program “delivered more than $1.5 million dollars to individual artists in 2025” even after the application window closed earlier than planned due to funding changes.
