Heights Arts is accepting applications for its 12th Poet Laureate, a two-year term from April 2025 to April 2027. The selection coincides with Heights Arts’ 25th anniversary. The laureate will receive a stipend, participate in community and civic events, and oversee the “Ekphrastacy: Artists Talk and Poets Respond” series.
The Cleveland Heights Poet Laureateship began in 2000 and, according to Heights Arts, is the first and longest-standing program of its kind in Ohio. Following an expansion endorsed by both Cleveland Heights and University Heights, the program is now called the Heights Poet Laureateship.
A virtual information session will be held November 11 at noon via Zoom. Applications are accepted from November 1 through December 31, 2024. Applicants must commit to the full 24-month term and reside in Cleveland Heights or demonstrate a substantial connection to the community.
