The 2024 Columbus Arts Festival, scheduled for June 7-9 along the riverfront, is set to offer attendees more than just visual art. Presented by the American Electric Power Foundation and produced by the Greater Columbus Arts Council, the festival will feature a wide array of interactive activities designed for all ages and skill levels. These opportunities encourage participation, learning, and creative exploration.

A central hub for these activities will be the Kids Hands-On Activities Village, presented by Battelle, located west of COSI. This area will host numerous organizations offering crafts like magnet decorating, artist trading cards, and creature design, alongside performances from local theater groups and ensembles. New this year, an adult/teen programming area will offer paid workshops, including donut decorating, flower bouquet building, and canvas painting. The festival also includes dedicated Children’s and Teens’ Art Galleries, where young attendees can purchase affordable artwork. The popular mascot, Art Shark, will also make appearances throughout the festival grounds.

Beyond the dedicated activity village, the Big Local Arts Village at the Franklinton entrance will showcase over 80 local artists demonstrating crafts such as blacksmithing and Japanese calligraphy, while also selling their work. Attendees can also engage with local arts organizations, participate in public art discussions, and enjoy live music. The festival aims to provide a comprehensive cultural experience, integrating hands-on creation with appreciation for diverse artistic expressions.
