The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati will present five distinct programs throughout February 2026 to commemorate Black History Month. These events aim to celebrate Black history and culture through a variety of mediums, including lectures, film screenings, performances, and workshops.
The programming acknowledges the 100th anniversary of Negro History Week, established by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, which evolved into the current Black History Month observance. Highlights include a free Fifth Third Community Day on February 15, featuring a lecture and book signing by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Dr. Edda L. Fields-Black, alongside other scholars. The month’s events also encompass a film screening focused on Black cinema, a showcase of contemporary Black artistic talent, a family history preservation workshop, and a documentary screening with a discussion panel organized by Elementz.
