The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has reached 250,000 participants in its Virtual Field Trips program since the program launched in 2007. The live, interactive lessons connect students and educators to science topics such as dinosaurs, astronomy, wildlife, and human health.
The program has reached learners in 85 of Ohio’s 88 counties, all 50 states, and 27 countries. It is free to Title I schools this year. “We’re reaching students where they are and inspiring curiosity about the natural world in ways that are engaging, accessible, and meaningful,” said Renata Brown, director of school and family learning.
The museum recently added two new Virtual Learning Studios, including the Barna and Pomeranz Virtual Learning Studio, in the Larry Sears and Sally Zlotnick Sears Dynamic Earth Wing. During the pandemic in 2021, the program reached its peak of 46,302 participants in a single year.
