Mutual Dance Theatre will present four new works at Modern Mix ’26, May 1-2, 2026, at the Aronoff Center for the Arts in Cincinnati. The closing performance of the company’s “Embrace: A Season of Connection” features choreography by Joshua Ishmon, Shane Ohmer, Nat Wilson and Cincinnati Ballet principal dancer Sirui Liu, marking the first artistic collaboration between Cincinnati Ballet and Mutual Dance Theatre.
The cross-company partnership was arranged by Mutual Dance Theatre Artistic Director Jeanne Mam-Luft and Cincinnati Ballet Artistic Director Cervilio Amador. Liu, who joined Cincinnati Ballet in 2011 and became a principal dancer in 2017, has won gold medals at the Taolibei National Dance Competition and the Beijing International Ballet Competition. Ishmon, a former performer and rehearsal director with Chicago’s Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, founded that company’s Emerging Choreographer’s Showcase. Ohmer, a Cincinnati native now based near Philadelphia, has performed with River North Dance Chicago and toured with musicals including Flashdance and Phantom of the Opera. Wilson, originally from Dexter, Michigan and now based in Brooklyn, performs with Yue Yin Dance Company.
Tickets start at $29 and are available at cincinnatiarts.org. The performance is part of a season that also included regional presentations of guest companies Deeply Rooted Dance Theater in October and Yue Yin Dance Company in February.
