Cleveland Ballet will debut Sleeping Beauty as the final production of its 2023-2024 season, running April 25 through 27 at Playhouse Square’s Connor Palace. The production marks a step toward the higher production values that artistic director Timour Bourtasenkov has outlined for the company.

The choreography comes from Carolina Ballet founding artistic director Robert Weiss, based on Marius Petipa’s original choreography. Bourtasenkov previously danced the Prince’s role in Carolina Ballet’s premiere of the production in 2008. Costume design is by David Heuvel of Ballet West, with scenery by Jeff A.R. Jones.

The roles of Princess Aurora and the Prince will be performed by Svetlana Svinko with Narek Martirosyan on April 26 at 7 p.m. and April 27 at 7 p.m., and by Gabriella Checo with Lorenzo Pontiggia on April 26 at 1 p.m.

A student matinee and Pay What You Can performance will be available during the final dress rehearsal on Thursday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets start at $28.
