SPACES gallery in Cleveland has opened Residue, an exhibition by fall/winter artist-in-residence Kelley-Ann Lindo. The show encompasses both the Oracle and Gund Galleries and includes nearly 30 works in sculpture, prints, textiles, and video.
Lindo’s work explores her family history and hometown of Kingston, Jamaica, drawing on personal archives, colonial echoes in the Caribbean, and the tensions between domestic interiors and architectural facades. The exhibition title reclaims the word “residue” as something to cherish rather than discard. Colors in the Oracle Gallery reference house paints manufactured by Berger Paints Jamaica Ltd., whose Magicote line produces a limited palette common across the island.
Lindo holds a BFA in Painting from The Edna College of the Visual and Performing Arts and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. She was a recipient of the 2021 Dedalus Foundation Master of Fine Arts Fellowship.
