Karamu House in Cleveland has announced a strategic realignment that includes postponing its season-end production of “Choir Boy” and launching an extensive planning and development effort. President and CEO Tony F. Sias called the initiative “A Continuation of Responsible Stewardship.”
The decision follows a 13-month delay on Karamu’s construction projects, which Sias attributed primarily to supply chain issues. The organization will use the time for strategic planning, professional development, activating newly constructed spaces, aligning staffing for new lines of business, and reenergizing fundraising for the final phase of construction.
Karamu House, which has operated for more than a century, will continue scheduled events including the Karamu Arts Academy production of “The Web of Anansi” in April 2024, a Great Lakes Science Center Solar Eclipse Event, and a Black Composers Concert in partnership with the Cleveland Orchestra.
