Les Arts Florissants, a Baroque ensemble based in France, will perform at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. as part of Tuesday Musical’s 2025-26 Akron Concert Series. The program marks the 300th anniversary of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, first published in 1725.
Violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte will serve as soloist. De Swarte, a member of Les Arts Florissants since his time at the Paris Conservatory, co-founded the Baroque ensemble Le Consort with harpsichordist Justin Taylor and violinist Sophie de Bardonnèche. His recordings on Alpha Classics include Specchio Veneziano, Opus 1 and Philarmonica. He plays a 1665 Jacob Stainer violin on loan from the Jumpstart Foundation.
The concert will also include works by Monteverdi, Uccellini and Geminiani. Les Arts Florissants, founded in 1979 by William Christie, performs roughly 100 concerts and opera productions each season. British tenor and conductor Paul Agnew became co-musical director in 2020, and the ensemble has been in residence at the Philharmonie de Paris since 2015.
Tickets start at $19 and are available at tuesdaymusical.org or by calling 330-761-3460. Free student tickets are available on concert night at the EJ Thomas Hall ticket office.
